TTC Wilson Carhouse Expansion

The Toronto Transit Commission has awarded the consulting assignment for the expansion of the Wilson Carhouse to Totten Sims Hubicki Associates. The $35 million expansion is needed for the maintenance and servicing of the Commission's new fleet of 39 subway trainsets recently ordered from Bombardier Inc. Work will include the addition of two full length service bays, extension of the entire carhouse by five bays, construction of a two storey training facility and construction of a servicing/access tunnel under existing maintenance tracks. The project includes a new wheel machine, vehicle lifts, cranes and turntables. There will also be a major reconfiguration of exterior trackwork in the Wilson Yard to accommodate the revised building footprint. This assignment continues our excellent working relationship with TTC developed through a number of significant vehicle workshop renovation and alteration projects including the recent Harvey Shops and Birchmount Garage projects.
